The Bedrooms ...

The Grand Bedroom with private bathroom The Grand Bedroom on the first floor is so called because it has a king sized bed, is very large and has beautiful panoramic views of the sea, the Downs and the village. Again, we have tried to maintain the Arts & Crafts ethos of the house, restoring the original oak joinery and splendid brick fireplace and keeping to a light, simple, uncluttered colour scheme.

As in all the bedrooms, the wardrobes and chests of drawers are the originals supplied by Messrs Shepherd & Hedger of Southampton, reputedly ships’ outfitters for the Queen Mary.

The comfortable private bathroom is just across the landing and has been completely refurbished with new sanitary ware, white tiling and so on. The bath has a large shower facility with shower screen, and there’s plenty of space for toiletries, towels et cetera.

The Double Bedroom with private shower room The Double Bedroom is next to the Grand Bedroom on the first floor. A little smaller than the Grand, the restoration has resulted in a very comfortable room with a 4’6” double bed, simple, light décor and many examples of the original features in working order including bell push and light fittings. Again, the original built in oak furniture is by Messrs Shepherd & Hedger.

The private shower room is almost opposite, completely refurbished with a good walk-in shower, ceramic tiled floor, hand basin and loo.

Both bedrooms overlook the gardens, with beautiful panoramic views of the sea, the Downs and the village below.

The Garden Suite The new suite opens directly onto the verandah and the woodland part of the garden, with the top lawn, mixed borders, mature beech trees and the macrocarpa pine. The Garden Suite has its own front door and there is a private verandah where you can take tea, leading on to the top lawn.

The Garden Suite occupies the ground and mezzanine floors of the 1928 wing. .

It includes a pretty double bedroom, a good sized ensuite bathroom/dressing room (bath with shower over and shower screen, handbasin & loo) and an attractive sitting room with delightful views of the woodland garden.

As with all the guest accommodation, the Suite comes fully equiped with colour digital TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and so on. The atmosphere is very peaceful and there is a wonderful evening light through the trees.
